Description: South Africa implemented a food labelling regulation in 2012. The regulation describes the need for the evaluation of the protein quality when a protein claim is made and this evaluation is achieved by quantifying amino acids in food matrices. NMISA therefore aims to support the food labelling measurement community by offering proficiency testing schemes and/or reference material/certified reference materials demonstrate comparability and continued competency in protein measurements.
