Course Objectives
To obtain the basic understanding of Dimensional Metrology as use in measuring and inspection in industry. The traceability from the SI unit, the metre to the industry measurement is explained together with terminology used in the field of metrology. How to interpret Specifications when selecting measuring equipment for a specific task. Basic uncertainty calculations of measurements and how this uncertainty is used to proof conformance to the Specification. The course is focusing on the use of dimensional measuring instruments e.g. Micrometers, Vernier Callipers, Profile Projectors etc.
